The benefits of babywearing are immense. We believe that supporting parents to integrate slings into their life in a way that works for them is so beneficial.
We also know that parent to parent support, and developing friendships and community are KEY to good postnatal mental health .
NN Sling Library has grown in popularity so much in the last few years, we hear your fantastic feedback on a weekly basis and have been bowled over by support from both Health Professionals and other organisations - however we are time poor and struggling to keep up - yet know that so many more parents need this support.
There are a number of ways you can volunteer with us - from just a couple of hours once a month; providing home based admin support, to collecting slings at a meet, or training as a full peer supporter and supporting parents to use slings in your own community...
Volunteers - We desperately need support during Sling Meets to collect in slings being returned, updating the online library system; and to help newcomers feel welcome, show them the ropes and sign them in, offer a drink and a comfortable place to sit while feeding baby, and some companionship.
Also behind the scenes admin support - we are not sure what this might look like yet, but anyone with accountancy, admin, event coordination skills and an hour or two per week spare to help from home - please get in touch.
Peer Support Programme- We are recruiting trainee peer supporters to take part in our in house training programme. This is different to the other 1 day peer support courses, as we will train you in our intergrated aproach to parent support. You will be able to attend a monthly training session once a month for 3 hours on a weekend afternoon at Ashton Fire Station (Babies welcome)
